Normally, Denmark is well-known for its export of pigs and Asia for its export of hardware, software, flat-screen TVs etc. But with its operations in the Far East, Acrossmedia International’s subsidiary Acrossmedia Asia Co., Ltd., has turned everything upside down. The Taiwanese subsidiary is entering the “Year of the Pig” with a handful of large clients safely registered in the order books.
“We have been operating in Taiwan for nine months now and have already become market leaders. With the number of clients already registered, we are looking at more than 100,000 screens. As a result, we are expanding our production facility in Shanghai to make sure that we can deliver on time. So far, orders worth DKK 50 million have been registered, and in four months we have earned the entire 2007 budget. Considering that the first clients are normally the most difficult to reach, we are confident that the positive development will continue”
- explains CEO John Conrad Jensen from the Taipei office, where employees are now celebrating the Chinese New Year (18 Feb).
China is the next step
The tradition of setting off fireworks to celebrate New Year originally came from China, more specifically from the legend of the monster Nian, who silently snuck into people’s homes. The Chinese quickly learned that fireworks and the use of the colour red indoors scared Nian. It does not, however, seem as if the same tactic applies to Asians themselves. Clients are certainly not scared of the red colour used in the Acrossmedia logo – or the products/services offered by the company. The screens with integrated hardware and software are as attractive as hot spring rolls.
John Conrad continues:
“We are confident that our next adventure in China will be an equal success. Only a few minor details need to be resolved before we can establish our office in Beijing. At the same time, our Bangkok office will be opening mid April, covering 7 stories, including a large video spot production department. The figures collected in Asia clearly prove that the concept already implemented among the most significant references in Denmark is an equal success in overseas markets. I am confident that the potential clients in Norway and Sweden with whom we are currently negotiating, will realise that the Acrossmedia in-store TV system is future-proof and worth investing in”.
Flexible Danish software popular in Asia
Not only the Acrossmedia hardware is popular in Asia. With its possibilities of editing prices, pictures and colours, the unique template system has attracted the attention of many clients. Tom Georgi, responsible for template and video spot development, explains:
“Our extensive and professional template solutions function in all languages and naturally also all characters. In Taiwan, our clients quickly realised the potential and flexibility of the template system, and this clearly shows in our sales figures. Some of our templates can be seen in one of Taipei’s most well-known jazz clubs; Brown Sugar”.
